In 1925, naval architect George Crouch layed down a design for a 27-1/2 foot race boat that campaigned in more Gold Cup races than any other boats of that era. Horace Dodge was at the controls and he was hard on the equipment. She was called "Impshi", Egyptian for "Scram", "Beat it" or "Step On It". After racing it for about ten years, Dodge sold it and then, a few years later, bought it back and renamed her "Hornet"
