56 VC The last apparent customer project was a stunning 56 foot long all mahogany commuter runabout cruiser with twin Caterpillar 375 hp engines with a top speed of 35 knots. Not surprisingly it also came with a 400-gallon diesel fuel tank! Carpenter went all out on the interior wood finishing. That was one of Carpenter’s signatures, wood inlay, mixing mahogany with even more exotic woods such as ebony, which you can only cut with a hacksaw, being one of the hardest woods in existence (which is why it was used for piano keys).
